Discipline, Respect, Responsibility

Seniors Katie Hearther, Samantha McManus and Ashley Velasco participated in It's Academic Hawaii and the Hawaii State Math Bowl. Read more about them here.

Seniors Katie Hearther, Samantha McManus and Ashley Velasco participated on It's Academic Hawaii this past April. They represented Radford High School very well and had a chance to show off their knowledge of all subjects in the process. 27 high schools from around the state (including public and private) compete for the title. The series starts airing on Sunday, May 8 on KFVE and rebroadcasts the following Saturday. The broadcast schedule is available below.

THE RADFORD EPISODE AIRS ON SUNDAY, JUNE 19, 2016 AT 7:00 PM
AND RE-AIRS ON SATURDAY, JUNE 25, 2016 AT 6:30 PM.

The same three young ladies also participated in the Hawaii State Math Bowl, held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 on the Island of Maui. They also represented Radford well at this event as well. See the standings below. Although they finished 6th out of 10, they were very competitive and led the competitions after round 4 (out of 8). They also answered a question correct that NO OTHER SCHOOL GOT, including Iolani and Punahou!!!

6) Radford High School (42)
7) Milillani High School (39)

They also finished ahead of St Anthony (who finished 3rd in the Small School Division), St Louis (4th), Kailua High School (5th) and Sacred Hearts Academy (6th).

If you know any of these three students, thank them for representing Radford well. We got a lot of compliments from other coaches as well as the It's Academic Staff on the academic prowess that these three have shown.

And again, check out the It's Academic Premiere on Sunday. Give them good television ratings so that they keep running the show. It is a good opportunity for Hawaii schools and their students to get their respective schools exposure and show all the great things that each school is doing.

Thank you Mr. Takiguchi for your coaching skills!
